Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate over 50 million viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB reported this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series drew 15.71M viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total US average reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
